The Foundation works to assist young entrepreneurs to achieve their goals and become future leaders, empower women through education, assist people with disadvantages by providing assistive devices, and provide students with opportunities to complete their studies through scholarship grants.

About Skills Development and Entrepreneur Training (SDET) Programme

Summary

The prime target of DA in this programme is to considerably reduce poverty through community-based Skills Development and entrepreneurship to empower women who are vulnerable and the deprived youth in the Volta Region.

Description and Aims of the Project

The DA Humanitarian Foundation through its Skills Development and Entrepreneur Training (SDET) is a 3-YEAR programme to roll out a number of skills training intervention to empower the unemployed youth and women in Ho, Bankoe and its environs in the Volta Region of Ghana.

As a foundation, our prime target has been on reducing the poverty through community- based skills development and entrepreneurship frameworks.

  1. To introduce unemployed youth, majority of whom are school dropouts, single parents, victim of rural-urban migration and orphans to novel skill sets.
  2. To serve as a stopgap measure for addressing youth unemployment menace by maximising the comparative advantages of implementing a community specific skills development programme.
  3. To train community youth and women on key vocational/technical skills.
  4. To complement skill trainings with basic entrepreneurial management skills to enable beneficiaries sustain their new ventures.

Impact of the Project on Beneficiaries and Environment

  1. 75 youth/women in the community will benefit from the project over 3 years, notwithstanding its ripple effect.
  2. Lasting knowledge of the proper entrepreneur skills in relation to start-ups.
  3. An empowerment of the start-up companies and individuals in the community.

Estimate Budget and Justification

Given that the overall aims of empowering the women and youth within Ho and its environs economically, helping train women and the youth in employable skills and reducing the level of poverty and raise the standard of living, we planned to organise series of training sections.

Hence, having around 75 women and youth to be trained in the identified economic activities, the estimated budget for a single training session is One Hundred and Eighty-One Thousand and five hundred cedis Gh¢ 181,500.00.
